Spoke to Rich Mix, they only rent out spaces and "as they are a charity relying on such income cannot give them out at no charge". I'm not sure who I spoke to at Rich Mix but it wasn't front desk - it was someone in the hire team.
As for a public screening they said we would have to submit the film to their programming team but "programmes are decided quite far in advance". I guess that is for later.
The Cockpit theatre in Marylebone hires out its auditorium for £30 an hour. (http://thecockpit.org.uk/hire_our_spaces#auditorium). Check out the pic of the place. Might be suitable.
I'll try to speak or look into a few other venues today/tomorrow.

Spoke to a whole bunch of commercial and also community theatres. They all hire out - I said we are on almost no-budget and can they let us use the space.
ReplyDeleteOur best bets seem to be pub theatres. The Gatehouse in Highgate is £25 p/h but they will go lower - I said I would call back once I have dates. They seem to have good availability esp in the daytime.
The Old Red Lion theatre was the only that was interested in what our project was :) The guy said he would call back with availability.
Check out images of Gatehouse - I think it will suit. Once Moniem comes back with a date maybe I/we can go there and have a quick lookaround.
